I think everybody needs to watch this. Even though in the video it is all women, it still applies just as much to men.  This video really got to me as I'm sure it will affect a few of you as well.  After watching this I realized how much we underestimate ourselves not only with our appearance but also with everything else we do. I think that it is important that we start to highlight the positive things about ourselves more often. We tend to compare ourselves to everyone else in the world, especially celebrities that we see in magazines and online, but when you actually take a look, they aren't even real images of them. They have professionals come along and edit so many things that it's not even a real person anymore.
So next time you are feeling down, stop comparing yourself to people you wish you were and look at just yourself. Everybody is unique in their own way. You might not see it, but everyone else can.

Watching that video kind of scared me.  You spend your high school career picking certain courses to get you to where you wanna be in the future.  You save up a lot of money so one day you can pay for university or collage.  You spend all that time sitting at home or in the library studying for you exams so you can finally put all your hard work into something that you really want.  But now it's a year later and you find yourself still sitting at home searching for a job.  It's a little scary to think that you spend the majority of your life in school sort of "training" for you life ahead, just to be left with nothing.  I myself would like to work somewhere in  the medical field, but with all this new technology being developed to get certain jobs done, makes me wonder if there will even be any opportunities for me one day to start a career.

THERE WILL COME A TIME, WHEN ALL OF US ARE DEAD. ALL OF US. THERE WILL COME A TIME WHEN THERE ARE NO HUMAN BEINGS REMAINING TO REMEMBER THAT ANYONE EVER EXISTED OR THAT OUR SPECIES EVER DID ANYTHING. THERE WILL BE NO ONE LEFT TO REMEMBER ARISTOTLE OR CLEOPATRA, LET ALONE YOU. EVERYTHING THAT WE DID AND BUILT AAND WROTE AND THOUGHT AND DISCOVERED WILL BE FORGOTTEN AND ALL OF THIS WILL HAVE BEEN FOR NAUGHT. MAYBE THAT TIME IS COMING SOON AND MAYBE IT IS MILLIONS OF YEARS AWAY ,BUT EVEN IF WE SURVIVE THE COLLAPSE OF OUR SUN, WE WILL NOT SURVIVE FOREVER. THERE WAS TIME BEFORE ORGANISMS EXPERIENCED CONSCIOUSNESS, AND THERE WILL BE A TIME AFTER. AND IF THE INEVITABILITY OF HUMAN OBLIVION WORRIES YOU, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO IGNORE IT. GOD KNOWS THAT’S WHAT EVERYONE ELSE DOES.

Picture
I honestly find this picture so powerful.

Once on a yellow piece of paper with green lines,
He wrote a poem
And he called it “Chops”
Because that was the name of his dog
And that’s what it was all about.
His teacher gave him an A
And a gold star
And his mother hung it on the kitchen door
And read it to his aunts.
That was the year Father Tracy
Took all the kids to the zoo
And he let them sing on the bus
And his little sister was born
With tiny toe nails and no hair
And his mother and father kissed a lot
And the girl around the corner sent him a
Valentine signed with a row of X’s
And he had to ask his father what the X’s meant
And his father always tucked him in bed at night
And was always there to do it.

Once on a piece of white paper with blue lines,
He wrote a poem.
He called it “Autumn”
Because that was the name of the season
And that’s what it was all about
And his teacher gave him an A
And asked him to write more clearly
And his mother never hung it on the kitchen door
Because of its new paint
And the kids told him
That Father Tracy smoked cigars
And left butts on the pews
And sometime they would burn holes.
That was the year his sister got glasses
With thick lenses and black frames
And the girl around the corner laughed
When he asked her to go see Santa Clause
And the kids told him why
His mother and father kissed a lot
And his father never tucked him in bed at night
And his father got mad
When he cried for him to do it.

  1. The state of being completely forgotten or unknown
For every person alive now, 14 have died. It’s scary, isn’t it? 14 lives forgotten. 14 stories left untold. After we pass the most we can hope for is three generations of remembrance. There is nothing more heart-wrenching for me than to think about it, being average just doesn’t cut it. The only ones eternally memorialized are those who are evil, and those who are angelic. I have spent my fair share of time contemplating these numbers and ideas and I have reached a conclusion. I can’t let myself worry about things that are so far out of my control. As long as I make an impact on one life—change the future of one individual, I have done something with my life. Sure it’s not the glorification we all secretly hope for, but it’s *Something*. With a capital ‘S’

World hunger is a huge deal in the world we live in today. Nobody should have to suffer not being able to get food or clean water. What if that was you? What if one day you woke up and no longer had access to the things you have today. You would no longer have your favourite type of soup or a water bottle to take with you in case you get thirsty throughout the day. We are selfish. “How do you explain appetizers to a third world country? “Well, it’s the food we eat before our food. No, you’re thinking of desert. That’s the food we eat after our food.” -Jim Gaffigan. When we look at things like that, it’s easy to see how fortunate we are to be living in a country where we have access to such things. Next time you’re at the store pick up a few perishable food items and donate them to your nearest food bank and help to make a difference.
